Dr. Codington was born in a Colorado into an animal loving family with 3 other siblings. Everyone always knew he would become a veterinarian. During his time at UC Davis, he took a year off to study and work in the Amazon Rainforest. This experience sparked his interest in alternative approaches to medicine and enriched his life experience. After graduating from vet school in 1980, he moved to Novato with his wife and children to start his own practice. His personal interests encompass many other physical activities like hiking, climbing, mountain biking and photography. He enjoys challenging himself with intense experiences such as his successful completion of the EcoChallenge in 1996 and his most recent mountain climbing trek in Nepal. Currently, he is enrolled in an intensive, 3 year training series in shamanism and feels a holistic, broad minded and spiritual approach is as important to how he lives his life as it is to how he practices medicine.
