About Dr. Ulbrich:
Dr. Bob Ulbrich graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1986. After several years of practicing conventionally, Dr. Ulbrich grew increasingly frustrated with the limitations of western medicine and began his postgraduate studies of holistic healing. He completed the ANC Professional Course in Veterinary Homeopathy with Dr. Richard Pitcairn in 1995, was awarded status as a Certified Veterinary Homeopath by the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy in 1997 and became certified as a Veterinary Chiropractor in 2005. Presently, Dr. Ulbrich practices from a 100% holistic clinic in Tigard Oregon, just outside of Portland. He is also available to do phone consultations with pet guardians and their local vets throughout the country when a more holistic approach is desired. Though cure is never guaranteed, Dr. Ulbrich can now address any health problem using a variety of modalities, and has enjoyed a great deal of success using homeopathy to treat cancer and even behavioral problems, despite the poor prognosis that allopathic medicine often assigns these conditions. He is a frequent speaker on the topics of veterinary homeopathy and holistic medicine, and has taught courses for both veterinarians and laypersons.

Holistic medicine recognizes and works with the body’s innate ability to heal itself. It recognizes that many factors, including diet, emotions, environmental toxins and genetics, influence one’s physical well being. When any one or all of these things fall out of balance, the result is acute or chronic illness. By seeking to eliminate the cause of a disease rather than simply suppress its symptoms, the result is often more curative and lasting. It is our goal at Holistic Pet Vet Clinic to help your pet lead a longer, happier and healthier life by providing not only curative advice, put preventative health care consultations and wellness exams.
Using an integrative approach, we draw on a variety of medical modalities including homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, nutritional and glandular therapy, eastern and western herbal therapy, flower essences and essential oils, in addition to conventional medicine, according to what is most appropriate on a case-by-case basis. Working closely with the guardian, our doctors tailor individual treatment plans to suit the needs of each patient as the unique and individual being that they are. We are fully equipped to perform dental cleanings as well as elective and most emergency surgical procedures in a safe and nurturing environment. To support our recommendations, we stock a diverse line of natural pet care supplies, including natural flea control products, fresh-frozen, preservative free raw diets and most of the ingredients needed to prepare a healthy diet from scratch.
Our clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturdays from 9am-1pm. Pets and their guardians are invited to visit our retail area at all times; consultations are by appointment only. Exams and phone consultations are charged equally, according to the amount of time spent with the doctor, up to $180.00 for a full hour. The minimum initial exam fee is $90.00 for 30 minutes. Though the results of a holistic approach are often more curative and long lasting than the allopathic approach, it can often take as long to undo the “diseased state” as it took to create it. Therefore, guardians seeking care for complex or chronic cases should expect to spend an average of two to three hours consulting with the doctor, spread out over the first several weeks, with 15-30 minute follow up exams at case specific intervals over the next six months to a year or more.
Holistic Pet Vet Clinic does not advocate for the use of herbs, homeopathy and nutritional supplements without the guidance of a knowledgeable holistic doctor or herbalist. Even natural substances can be toxic or fatal to your pet if used improperly. Please contact our office to speak with a staff member should you have any questions. They can assist with basic first aid and refer your pet for medical evaluation if necessary.
