Dr, Blake graduated from the University of Arizona in 1969 with a B.S. in Animal Science. He then spent four years at Colorado State University where he earned his DVM in 1973. From there he went into private practice in San Diego, California in 1973. For the first 7 years he practices conventional veterinary medicine until he became ill from exposure to pesticides in his practice. In 1980 he decided that in order for him to continue practice, he would have to stop using chemicals and require his clients to do the same or not see them at all. At the time he was not sure he would have a practice, but it turned out that there were many pet owners who shared his concerns and were looking for a veterinarian who would support their belief system. He became busier than ever and started a quest to learn as much as he could about alternative medical modalities. He started studying acupuncture, homeopathy, Bach Flowers, nutrition, glandular therapy, massage, aromatherapy and animal communication. He became certified as a veterinary acupuncturist by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and was in the first class of the Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy, where he was accredited in classical veterinary homeopathy. Due to health reasons he left his practice in 1997. After a prolonged illness of two years, he was blessed with a complete healing and was able to return to practice in 1999. He now has a home practice, dedicated solely to alternative medicine. He has been doing phone consultations for over 15 years as well as writing, lecturing, appearing on radio and television promoting alternative health care for animals and their caregivers. He has a limited part time practice. He takes some new patients depending on his busy schedule. His hours are 9 to 4PM PST Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. His hourly rate is $120 per hour plus additional fees for chiropractic, acupuncture and supplements. His first intake for a new client is 2 hours. Follow up visits run ½ to 1 hour each. He only except clients who are comfortable with not vaccinating their animals. They are required to not use any pesticides on or in their animals. Natural diets are required and purified water. They must be willing to massage their animals as well as talk to them daily J.
