After nine years of practicing conventional medicine, I had reached a comfortable plateau in my medical abilities. I felt that I could diagnose and treat any condition presented to me; and if the problem was beyond my expertise, I could refer the patient to a specialist who could diagnose and treat the patient. If the specialist was unable to come up with an answer, well...that patient was simply beyond help. In 1994, due to the unfortunate illness of a close relative, I was able to experience the same frustrations and feelings of helplessness that I was sure many of my clients had experienced. Being the recipient of bad news and a terminal prognosis for a beloved in-law, I realized that I had been limiting my clients' options to the constraints of conventional medicine, and had never considered alternative treatment modalities that were proven and effective. It was shortly therafter that my introduction to classical homeopathy began. I was attracted to this gentle, logical and powerful modality and its respect for the ability of the living being to heal itself. Starting with Dr. Richard Pitcairn's Professional Course in 1995, I have found my appetite for knowledge in the field insatiable, due in large part to the numerous miracles I have been able to achieve with this modality. In spite of major philosophical shifts in my perspective on health and healing, I have remained the proud owner of Wilmington Animal Hospital, one of the few hospitals in Delaware accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. The majority of my portion of the practice is devoted to homeopathy, nutrition and other natural therapies. My veterinary colleagues and staff have embraced these holistic principles, enabling our hospital to utilize comtemporary diagnostic practices, always keeping in mind that healing the patient is the priority. For a practice of our size, we are truly unique in our region.
